Rugby town centre stabbing leaves man seriously wounded

Rugby Editorial 23rd Feb, 2015 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016   0

A ‘NASTY’ stabbing in the town centre has left a man with serious abdomen wounds.

Police want to speak to two men in connection with the suspected assault, which happened just before 5am on Saturday (February 21) outside the Asda supermarket in Chapel Street.

Both men are described as white, slim, in their late teens to early twenties, with Eastern European accents.

The first has short brown hair and was wearing a light coloured hooded top, dark coloured shorts and blue trainers.

The second man has short brown or blond hair and was wearing a dark coloured bomber jacket, blue jeans and dark coloured shoes with white soles.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, has been treated in hospital and is expected to make a recovery.

Detective Sergeant Jon Belcher said: “This is a particularly nasty incident where the victim has received serious injuries. We believe there was an altercation between the victim and the other two men which led up to this incident.

“CCTV footage shows there were others in the area at the time and we are keen to speak to these people if they have any information that may help us, even if they did not witness the actual incident.”

Call 101 and quote reference 75 of February 21 2015. Information can be provided anonymously via www.crimestoppers-uk.org or on 0800 555 111.
