Rugby remembers RAF heroes on Battle of Britain Sunday

YOUNG and old came together in Rugby to pay their respects on Battle of Britain Sunday.

Members of the Royal Air Forces Association, the British Legion and Rugby Air Cadets joined Mayor Barbara Brown and the congregation of St Andrew’s Church to remember the men and women of the Royal Air Force who defended Britain against large-scale attacks by Nazi Germany’s air force, the Luftwaffe, in 1940.

The service, led by The Rev’d Canon Edmund Newey, paid tribute to those who were memorably referred to by Sir Winston Churchill as ‘The Few’.
