HOMEOWNERS in Rugby can get grants of up to £18,000 to make their homes warmer and cheaper to run.
The West Midlands Combined Authority’s (WMCA) Home Upgrade Grants (HUG) – funded by a £16million government fund – will pay for energy saving measures such as super-efficient insulation, solar panels, underfloor heating and heat pumps.
The grants are available to homeowners in Rugby who are not connected to mains gas, have an EPC rating of D to G, and whose total household income is less than £31,000.
Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands and WMCA chair, said: “We’re now able to make grants and expert advice available to homeowners who live in some of the most energy inefficient homes, to bring them up to modern energy efficiency standards.
“Improving the energy efficiency of our region’s housing stock is a key part of how we lower energy bills for local people – and create warmer and healthier places to live.”
Those who qualify for HUG will get a free technical survey to see which improvements would be suitable. Funding is also available for landlords in the charity and private rented sector.
