A LONG-haired youngster is sacrificing her distinctive locks to raise £1,000 for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
Lauren Osborn will face the chop at Experience Hair Design on Regent Street next week.
The 12 year-old Avon Valley pupil, whose mum Sarah is a hairdresser, was inspired to donate seven inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust after one of her mum’s customers did likewise.
As well as raising vital funds for the Air Ambulance, Lauren will donate her hair to the Little Princess charity – which provides wigs to youngsters who suffer from hair loss during cancer treatment.
And she hopes to attract sponsorship before completing her charity haircut on Friday February 24.
Lauren said: “I wanted to give my hair to charity and thought I could help the air ambulance at the same time.
“I am happy that my hair will help another child.
“Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far, I hope I can reach my target.”
Mum Sarah said she was bursting with pride – and gobsmacked by Lauren’s selfless act.
She added: “In the first 48 hours alone Lauren received £150 in donations through the justgiving page we’ve set up.”
Alison Davies, headteacher at Avon Valley School, said: “As a school we’re very proud of Lauren as this is a superb example of thoughtfulness and kindness.
“Lauren has chosen to support two very different charities, which both do wonderful work.
“Her target of £1,000 is very challenging and I wish her all the best.”
