SUPPORT for dementia sufferers in Rugby has been given a boost thanks to a donation from the ladies of Rugby Golf Club.
Rugby Dementia Support was handed a cheque worth over £5,400 at the club’s annual Lady Captain’s Charity Presentation.
Sarah Green, the club’s Lady Captain for 2024, chose the charity to receive funds raised at a number of events throughout 2024, including raffles and a bring-and-buy sale.
Rugby Dementia Support provides social, emotional and practical support to people with dementia, their carers and former carers living in the Rugby area.
The voluntary group, which provides information and runs workshops in dementia awareness to the wider public, relies on fund-raising in order to continue its work.
Ray Pickering and Bernie Bayliss from Rugby Dementia Support said: “We wish to say a huge thank you to Sarah for choosing our charity during the 2024-2025 golfing season.
“You have donated an amazing amount to a small local voluntary charity. What a difference this will make, enabling Rugby Dementia Support to continue our sessions in providing social and support to the carers, family members and those living with dementia.
“It is very much appreciated.”
