A CHILDREN’S writer has celebrated the publication of her latest novel – the second in her series combining Greek myths, comedy and adventure.
Author Julia Wills dropped in to Hunt’s Bookshop to sign copies of Rampage, the sequel to Fleeced, published last year to acclaim from the UK Arts Council and The Guardian Children’s Reading Website.
Rampage tells of the further adventures of Aries, the ghost-ram of the Golden Fleece, who was left bald and furious after Jason and the Argonauts stole his beautiful coat.
Julia, who studied at Oxford University before training as a teacher, came up with the idea for the character while teaching at Guilsborough Primary School when she saw how captivated children were by the heroes and monsters of Ancient Greece, and how much they loved a good laugh when they read.
The Clifton Road resident said: “I’m delighted at the reception Fleeced received and look forward to entertaining children and the young-at-heart alike with Rampage. It’s wonderful to once again have the support of Hunt’s Bookshop and launch my second novel in my home town.”
Both books are published by Piccadilly Press and are available from Hunts Bookshop, Blackwells, Daunts, independent booksellers nationwide, Amazon, Waterstones.com and Sainsbury’s online.
