GLASSES have been raised to mark the centenary of the Rotary Club of Rugby.

Around 100 guests and members gathered at the Benn Hall for a special lunch, presided over by toastmaster Bob Lloyd.

A group of special guests made speeches and responses on the work of the club in Rugby over the past 100 years.

They included Mayor Carolyn Watson-Merret, Vice Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire Lady Susan Saunders, and District Governor Nominee Amal Rampal.

Dr Rex Pogson proposed a toast to the guests, followed by a reply from Peter Green, the Executive Head of Rugby School.

The final toast was proposed by President Sue Maguire.

Prior to the meal, entertainment was provided by Jennifer Mynott and Lily White.

A special cake was cut by the President at the end of the speeches and shared to those present.

A new Rotary Badge was also presented to the President by the Mayor.
