RED Dwarf’s Rimmer visits Rugby tomorrow (Friday) to open a new coffee shop for comic book fans.

Chris Barrie, who plays the pedantic Arnold Rimmer in the cult sci-fi comedy, will be the special guest at Kuni’s Coffee & Comics when it opens for business in the town centre between 4pm and 8pm.

Barrie – also known as Gordon Brittas from The Brittas Empire and Hilary, Angelina Jolie’s butler in Tomb Raider – will be on hand to sign autographs as he welcomes guests to the coffee shop.

The shop, at at 33-34 High Street, offers coffee, ice cream shakes, American candy, comic books, toys, posters and collectables, and will create 16 jobs.

All seating locations have power, head-phone sockets for audio from the TV screens and free Wi-Fi.

Bryan Cooney, Managing Director of Kuni Coffee Ltd, said: “Rugby is a great place to do business and we are really excited to be opening in the town.

“We have invested heavily in the new business and see Rugby as the perfect fit for what we offer and a platform for us to expand throughout the Midlands.”

“I would like to say a special thank you to Rugby First who were able to identify a range of potential locations in the town as well as provide useful contacts to help us get the shop open quickly.

“Chris and I look forward to welcoming you on Friday where we will also have some exciting give-aways and costumed characters for you to meet and have your photograph taken with.”

Aftab Gaffar, Rugby First Managing Director, said: “Kuni’s Coffee & Comics is a really exciting concept and I am delighted that they have chosen Rugby as a base for their exciting expansion plans.

“They are a very welcome addition to the current high street mix and will complement it well.”
