A POST office is due to re-open in a village which has not had one for over a year.
A new branch will open in Long Buckby’s Co-op in High Street on Friday May 24 – with extended opening hours.
The old branch, which was based at different premises in High Street, closed down in February 2018 after the Postmaster resigned and the building was withdrawn for Post Office use.
Post Office services will be delivered from an open-plan till alongside the retail counter at the Co-op. Planned opening hours are 7am-10pm on Monday to Saturday, and 10am-4pm on Sunday – amounting to 81 hours a week.
Post Office multiples account executive Mike Ball said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.
“We are confident this new-style Post Office will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their views on the plan.
Visit www.postofficeviews.co.uk and use the branch code 396226 to take part in the consultation, which closes on May 23.
