Police reappeal to find cyclist following sexual assault in Rugby

DETECTIVES are reappealing to speak to this man in connection with a sexual assault in Rugby.

Sometime between 10.30pm and 11pm on Friday May 1, a woman in her 20s was walking along Pennington Mews when she was approached by an unknown man on a bike who sexually assaulted her.

The suspect, who is believed to have spoken with an Eastern European accent, is described as a white, in his 30s, with a narrow face and distinctive front teeth. He was of medium build and around 5’8” tall,

He was believed to be wearing a grey hoodie and dark jeans.




Det Insp Jim Rankin said: “This was a frightening ordeal for the victim who was understandably left shaken following the incident, and we have had specially trained officers supporting her since.

“We understand the concern incidents such as this cause and want to reassure the public that we are continuing to carry out extensive enquiries to identify the suspect and bring him to justice.


“While enquiries are ongoing, we would really like to speak to the man pictured, who we believe to have been in the Pennington Mews area at around the time of the incident and in the vicinity of Rugby town centre that evening, as we believe he may have vital information which could assist with our investigation.

“I would urge the man, anyone who recognises him, or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area that evening to please get in touch with us.”

Anyone with any information is urged to call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 191 of 1 May 2020.
