A YOUNG sailor from Rugby is on the crest of a wave after winning a £2,000 boat in a national competition.

James Knight, of Draycote Water Sailing Club, won the craft for his design of a sailing sticker as part of the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show, held at Alexandra Palace in London.

The nine-year-old won an RS Tera sailing dinghy worth £2,050, personalised with his winning design.

Draycote Water Sailing Club will also receive two RS Teras for club use for the 2015 season as part of his prize.

James, who started sailing last year, said: “Having a Tera with my very own designed sail is awesome! I will love sailing her.”

Draycote Water Commodore, Phillip Hunt, said: “Congratulations to young James, this is a fantastic achievement. As a club, we put a lot of effort into getting youngsters on the water with training and coaching and now there is one more reason for potential young sailors to come down to the club.”
