PAWS for reflection – volunteers from the Rugby branch of Cats Protection have proudly celebrated 21 years of dedicated service to local cats and kittens.
Since it opened, the branch has rehomed hundreds of moggies, including over 280 in the last five years, and reunited lost pets with their families – including more than 115 in 2025 alone.
The branch also manages phone and online helplines, responding to 265 cases in the last six months.
The group also supports local families with neutering schemes, and raises vital funds to provide food, shelter, and medical care for cats in need.
Volunteers contribute a combined total of around 7,250 hours each year.
Among them is Hilary Stevenson, who has been with the branch since it opened 21 years ago.
She said: “After 21 years of volunteering with Cats Protection Rugby, my love for cats is still what inspires my dedication. I’m incredibly proud to support such a wonderful charity and to know I’m giving something meaningful back to our community.
“Being surrounded by like-minded people who share the same passion makes every moment worthwhile.
“It’s been a privilege to be part of the branch for the past 21 years, and I look forward to many more years to come.”
Teena Shilton, Branch Team Leader for Cats Protection Rugby, added: “Our 21st anniversary honours the incredible supporters and volunteers whose dedication has changed countless feline lives. Their unwavering kindness is the reason we can continue our vital work in the community.”
