A NEW dementia awareness and support session has ‘exceeded all expectations’ following its launch.
Home care company Home Instead Rugby has hosted the first of its new monthly ‘Forget Me Not Coffee Meet-Ups’, which are aimed at providing a welcoming space for individuals seeking advice and support regarding the condition.
Home Instead Rugby’s Marketing and Recruitment Manager Shona Hughes said: “Our goal was to bring together members of the community to foster connection, share resources, and provide support to those affected by dementia.
“We are proud to say that it exceeded our expectations.
“The positive feedback from attendees reassures us that we are on the right path. We are optimistic that future events will attract even more community members, further strengthening the support network for those impacted by dementia.”
The inaugural session was attended by Rugby Mayor Simon Ward and his Lutterworth counterpart Robert Coleman, who expressed their appreciation for the event and commended staff’s efforts to raise awareness and provide support services.
Each meet-up will be attended by professionals who can provide valuable insights and answer questions about dementia, and opportunities to connect with others in similar situations, share experiences, and build supportive relationships.
They will also offer information on the latest research and strategies to help improve the quality of life for those living with dementia, and ways for community members to get involved and support dementia awareness and care efforts.
Shona added: “As we look forward to future gatherings, we remain dedicated to expanding our support for individuals and families navigating the challenges of dementia. We are excited to continue building a strong, informed, and compassionate community.”
The Forget Me Not Coffee Meet-Ups are held at The Wycliff Rooms in Lutterworth on the last Thursday of each month from noon until 2pm. Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided.
