Man injured during attempted robbery in Rugby

POLICE investigating an attempted robbery in Rugby are appealing for help to catch the culprit.

The victim, a man in his 20s had been talking on the phone while walking along the grass path between South Street and Abbey Street  around 3.45pm  on Wednesday when he was approached by an unknown man from behind.

The robber attempted to steal the victim’s phone but failed and quickly fled.

The victim suffered a wound to his leg  and was treated at hospital for a minor injury;




The robber was white, around 5 10″ tall and of slim build, around 40 years of age, with short fair hair, wearing blue jeans and a light coloured top.

Det Con Adam James of Warwickshire Police said: “We are urging anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and witnessed anyone acting suspiciously to contact the police as soon as possible”


“Fortunately he was not seriously injured but has been understandably shaken by the ordeal.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101.”

Officers investigating the incident want to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity within the area, or has any information which would help them with their enquiries.
