THE LAST rays of summer sun shone down on Rugby’s second Food Festival of the year.

Thousands of hungry visitors came to Regent Street, St Andrew’s Church Gardens and Rugby Baptist Church on Saturday (September 21) to sample a variety of food and drink from around the world, from gourmet burgers and artisan cheeses to exotic spices and desserts.

Chefs created dishes, took questions from the audience and shared their cooking secrets at a pop-up demonstration kitchen

At Carvells Electrical, home economist Karen Walker hosted a live NEFF cooking demonstration, cooking recipes to show how to get the best from appliances and choose the right oven for different cooking styles.

The festival also featured family-friendly entertainment including live music, face painting, a funfair and street entertainment.

Linda Lowne, Business Director of event organisers Rugby First, said: “The Food and Drink Festival is one of my favourite town centre events and it was great to see it return.

“In addition to significantly increasing town centre footfall and spend, it also creates an added buzz and excitement which is great for everyone.

“I would like to thank St Andrew’s Church, Rugby Baptist Church and all those businesses that are involved and supporting the event.

“The event, along with support from Rugby Borough Council, is primarily funded by the levy paying businesses in the town centre. It is important to support these businesses not only on the day of the event but every week by shopping locally in Rugby wherever possible.”
