LOOK: Rugby church is beginning to look a lot like Christmas

IT’S BEGINNING to look a lot like Christmas at a Rugby town centre church.

St Andrew’s Church has decked its halls with boughs of pine for its Christmas Tree Festival, which runs throughout December.

Charities, schools, community groups and care homes have decorated trees to the theme of ‘Musical Christmas’ – and lights, baubles and candles are casting a festive glow around the aisles.

This year’s festival is raising awareness of and money for the Rugby Bareboards Trust, a charity which aims to ensure no one in the community has to face an empty home.

For the past 20 years, the charity has supported over 2,000 families and individuals – including people on low incomes, survivors of abuse, refugees, young people leaving care, and those moving on from homelessness – by providing furniture, household goods, and small electricals.

A church spokesperson said: “This is the 23rd year of holding our Festival and as always, the main purpose of this event is to raise funds for charities that support the local community.

“We are supporting the Rugby Bareboards Trust for our festival this year.

“In addition to supporting charities, the festival gives so much pleasure to its visitors, many of whom return year after year to see the church looking so beautiful.”

All are welcome to go along and enjoy the trees, make a donation, and vote for their favourite in support of Rugby Bareboards throughout December (10am-2pm weekdays, 10am-12pm Saturdays).
