KATHY Hosseinzadeh will be a familiar face to thousands of mums.
A mum herself, she has worked for the NHS for 39 years, many of which have been as a community midwife.
But she has now retired bringing and end to her time with the NHS that spanned back to 1975 when she began her general training at the old Walsgrave Hospital.
After three years she moved into midwifery and in 1995 went out into the community to support new and prospective mums as they embarked on one of the most important journeys in their lives.
Kathy said she planned to spend more time with her own family; husband Martin and their sons, but refused to rule out returning to the wards from time to time.
“I have had an amazing time. Over the years I have seen so many changes including the move to the new hospital but I am looking forward to my well-earned retirement.
“As well as the many new mums, I will really miss all of my colleagues, they are what makes the job so enjoyable. But I won’t be taking it easy and have many projects lined up to occupy my times.
“And in between all that I might even find time to still do the odd shift as I have loved my job that much.”
Andy Hardy, chief executive at University Hospital, added: “Thirty-nine years of public service is to be commended.
“The NHS is built on a foundation of dedication from staff such as Kathy and she is a testament to hard work and devotion.”
