A HIGH-ranking officer with Warwickshire Police has experienced a different kind of police interview during a visit to a Rugby primary school.
Deputy Ch Cons David Gardner has years of experience in interviewing – suspects, job applicants and more – but he has never been interrogated like he was when he paid a visit to Hillmorton Primary School.
A Warwickshire Police spokesperson said: “The kids took great pleasure in asking the DCC and the officer alongside him all sorts of very important questions, including: have you arrested any robbers in masks? Which one of you can get over a fence? And our favourite topic: is the uniform itchy?
“The children tried on some of the uniform, talked about police dogs and their special noses, looked at the equipment we use and, most importantly, got to sit in the police car and turn the blue lights on.
“One child was very keen to tell us about their dad speeding on the motorway – a future motorway cop?!
“All in all, a short visit became a great opportunity to influence a future generation on the role of the police – and hopefully encourage some to consider it for careers in the future.”
