Kids' parkrun to take a topsy-turvey twist for April Fools' Day

Rugby Editorial 27th Mar, 2022   0

A RUNNING event for kids will take a topsy-turvey twist in the wake of April Fool’s Day.

The GEC Junior Parkrun takes place at the GEC Recreation Ground in Hillmorton Road every Sunday from 9am – but the first run in April will be back-to-front when participants run the course in reverse.

A spokesperson said: “Are your children driving you round the bend with their endless energy? GEC Junior Parkrun is here to help.

“Whether you have a budding Olympian or a child that just wants to jump in every puddle along the way, you and your child will always be welcome.

“Feel free to run along with your child, or just offer encouragement from the sides – we have a fully marshalled course to keep them safe.

“No matter the weather, we are always here. Join us any Sunday – or come to our April Fools’ Day special, when the course is in reverse.

“The best thing about parkrun is that you don’t have to tell us you’re coming, and it’s free.”

The run is for children aged four to 14, and is 2km in length. The April Fools’ Day special takes place on Sunday April 3. Rugby Adult Parkrun is also available on Saturdays.
