HISTORY was brought to life at the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum in Warwick at the weekend.

Stories were told at St John’s House of First World War soldiers from Rugby and Berkswell, and re-enactors from the Birmingham Pals Living History Association were also on hand talk about all aspects of the Great War.

The event also tied with the the 100th anniversary of the land offensive by British troops in Gallipoli, which a battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment took part, but which suffered heavy losses.

Museum curatorial officer Stephanie Bennett said: “It is so easy to forget when you are focusing on your work and living in your own little world, that there is so much fascinating history out there waiting to be discovered.

“The re-enactors are always great to meet – their knowledge about being a soldier in the First World War and their enthusiasm, passion and love of the topic is wonderful.”
