A ‘CALLOUS’ drug dealer who ‘preyed on vulnerable victims’ in selling heroin and crack cocaine in Rugby has been jailed.

Alex Neilson, 24, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 48 months in prison at Warwick Magistrates’ Court for being concerned in the supply of the two class A drugs.

Neilson was arrested in July last year when an investigation led officers to an address in Grosvenor Road.

Neilson, who was inside the property at the time, was found to have quantities of class A drugs concealed on his person. Cash, mobile phones, a weapon and evidence of drug dealing were also seized from the address.

Following the sentencing, Det Cons Matthew Rapkins of Rugby Proactive CID said: “We welcome the custodial sentence which reflects the serious nature of the offence. Neilson has callously preyed on vulnerable victims for his own financial gain.

“The trading of illegal drugs causes misery, fear and violence and we are determined to seek out any individuals who continue to blight our communities in this way.

“The public plays a vital part in coming forward with suspicions and information concerning drug dealing or manufacturing in the community.”

Report drug crime by calling Warwickshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on on 0800 555 111.
