A GANG of thugs who launched a broad daylight attack on a teenager in Rugby town centre have pleaded guilty.
Police were called to Clifton Road around 4.40pm on July 31, 2020 after receiving multiple reports a group of men were chasing another man with weapons.
The victim – a then 18-year-old man who was unarmed – and was taken to hospital where he had emergency surgery to repair a punctured lung.
Brian Ayamba Ashu, 25, of Phipps Avenue, Rugby; Cheetij Pun, 23, of Morton Gardens, Rugby; Birmingham man Alanzo Scarlett, 26; and Musa Hussain, 19, from Leicester, were identified as the assailants through CCTV footage.
They were all arrested, interviewed and subsequently charged.
Appearing at Warwick Crown Court on Monday September 23, all four pleaded guilty to violent disorder while Pun and Ashu also admitted section 20 assault.
They are set to be sentenced at the same court on October 29.
Investigating officer Det Cons Kat Brock said: “Using a knife is never acceptable. The victim needed emergency surgery after the attack and was fortunate not to suffer more serious injuries as their actions could have resulted in the loss of a life.
“I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the investigation for their dedication and commitment throughout. It has been a lengthy investigation but ultimately, one with the right outcome.”
