BIKERS from Rugby are holding their sixth annual fundraising funday and mini-music festival at a Hillmorton pub this weekend.

Rugby Independent Bikers (RIB) are putting on the event to support the Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Bikes (WSBB) charity.

The Bell pub will host a barbecue, a tug of war, bowling for beer and activities for children, while local bands Overdrive, The Vinyls and Blues Extra provide the soundtrack.

Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Bikes is a team of 80 volunteer riders and drivers who support the NHS by transporting essentials such as plasma, tissue samples, spinal fluids, x-rays and licensed drugs during evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

RIB, a motorcycle group based at The Bell, have supported the charity since 2011.

Member Barry Mace said: “Bloodbikes provide an invaluable service and rely purely on donations so we’re proud to be hosting this fundraiser again this year.”

Blues Extra singer Des Fraser, himself a keen biker, added: “We all hope it won’t happen but one day any of us could need the services of the blood bikes to save a life.

“WSBB is entirely funded by charity so bring the family along to The Bell, have some fun, spend some money for a great cause, and hear some classic tunes from the likes of Clapton, Led Zep, Hendrix, Dr Feelgood and more.”

RIB hopes to raise £500 for the Blood Bikes this year.

The event takes place on Sunday (August 27) from 12pm.
