Fun day raises thousands for hospice charity

A FAMILY fun day in Rugby has helped to raise much-needed funds totalling over £2,000 for the Myton Hospices.

The event at Rugby Railway Club featured a classic cars show, craft stalls, penalty shootouts, afternoon teas, face painting, hair braiding, inflatables, bowls tuition, a hog roast, and live music from The Bungalow Club, Rugbylele and Spitfire.

The event was officially opened by Mayor Simon Ward.

He said: “It was lovely to see so many families out enjoying themselves.

“I also met some entrepreneurial local children on a couple of the stalls who were either making their own products and selling them on, or buying and selling and raising money for good causes, which is absolutely fantastic.”

This year, the Myton Hospices charity needs to raise £11million of the £14.3million it costs to continue providing its services free of charge to patients and their loved ones. Visit www.mytonhospice.org for more information or to donate.
