FIVE cruel men have been jailed for causing unnecessary suffering to an animal after six sheep were found in the boot of a family car.
The animals’ bodies were discovered by police with their heads wrapped in black bin liners and their throats cut.
The car, a Nissan Primera, was stopped by traffic officers at around 11:30pm on Sunday (April 24) between junctions two and one of the M6.
After initially failing to stop for police, the vehicle was contained by officers and all five occupants were detained.
When officers initially searched the vehicle they found two knives, one of which was stained with blood.
All five men appeared before Leamington Magistrates on Wednesday (April 27) and pleaded guilty to the charges.
