PHARMACIES across the borough will be operating reduced hours over the Christmas period – but the local healthcare body has announced which will be open for business on bank holidays.
The NHS Coventry and Rugby Clinical Commissioning Group’s website has detailed information about which pharmacies are open over the Bank Holiday weekend (click here). Pharmacies will be back to normal opening hours from January 2.
Health professionals are reminding patients that take regular medication to ensure they have enough medication over the Christmas and New Year period, and to request repeat medication from your GP surgery in good time to allow for it to be signed and dispensed.
Pharmacists may be able to help with health needs while some of the other health services are busy with patients suffering more serious illness or injuries.
They can also offer advice and medicines for a range of minor ailments. Residents are advised to stock up on general medication such as pain killers and hay fever remedies.
Bank Holiday weekends can also mean that A&E could be a particularly busy. If you are feeling poorly and it is not a life threatening emergency, call 111. The NHS 111 service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a trained health professional taking your call and directing you to the best and possibly quickest health service for your treatment.
Pharmacy opening hours in Coventry and Rugby can be found on the NHS Choices website (www.nhs.uk) along with information on walk-in centres, urgent care centres or minor injuries units.
