FEMALE drivers working for a logistics firm headquartered in Crick have spoken out about their work in a male-oriented industry.
XPO Logistics held its fifth annual UK Female Driver Forum to provide a safe space for female drivers to network and bring matters of concern to the attention of senior management.
All XPO Logistics female drivers were invited to attend the forum, which took place at the company’s national distribution centre in the Northamptonshire town near Rugby.
The forum covered several topics, including neurodiversity in the workplace, and hosted an interactive session for female drivers to provide feedback to help the company best support them.
It was the second such forum held by the company this year, with the company having increased its number of female drivers by 20 in the UK and Ireland since the first was held in April – and aiming to boost the number even further.
Human resources vice president Lynn Brown said: “We are excited to have been able to run our second Female Driver Forum this year, not only to celebrate the successes of our female drivers but to allow them to spend time discussing the topics that matter to them.
“Our Female Driver Academy has been instrumental in helping us move towards our goal of increasing the number of female drivers in our business and ensuring that we understand and remove any impediments to our progress. We want to continue encouraging more women to pursue this rewarding career.”
XPO introduced the forum in 2021 to increase dialogue with women drivers about their work in a male-oriented industry, celebrate successes, and give voice to the challenges they may face on a day-to-day basis.
