A CHARITY which helps families with young children in the Lutterworth area has launched its fifth annual Snowdrop Appeal.
Home-Start South Leicestershire’s appeal uses the image of snowdrop flowers to represent challenges faced by families during the long winter months – and their strength and resilience under the most adverse of conditions.
Members of the public are urged to spot and photograph snowdrops while out and about and send to the charity to display on its social media channels. Each photo is entered into a prize draw, and the winner will be picked at random on March 1.
Charity Manager Stella Renwick said “The idea is two-fold: raise funds for the charity and spirits within the community.
“We all need a boost at this time of year; spotting the first signs of spring brings a smile to faces and a feeling of renewed hope. There is also the added benefit of getting out in the fresh air.”
This year’s prizes have been donated by Palmer’s Garden Centre, Langton Greenhouse and Garden Centre, and Lamport Hall.
The appeal needs to raise £1,000 to help the charity support the most vulnerable and disadvantaged families in the area who are experiencing extreme financial hardship.
Send snowdrop pictures to [email protected] or via www.facebook/homestartsl to enter the prize draw.
