A DELIGHTED Eagles fan at a Rugby came home has turned back the clock after staff arranged for him to watch a tribute to his favourite band.
Jim Sheils, who is staying on respite at Overslade House Care Home, saw the legendary rock band in concert many years ago and is a lifelong fan.
Upon hearing he would love to see them play again, the home’s Activities Lead Julie Bateman sprang into action as she has friends who perform in an Eagles tribute act called Talon.
She managed to snap up tickets to a gig they were playing at Kilworth House Theatre near Lutterworth, and took Jim along.
Jim, who has become a popular figure at the home during his stay, said: “It was a lovely surprise and a great night.
“Talon were excellent. My favourite song is Hotel California and they performed it brilliantly.
“Julie knows the band, so I got to have a picture with them which was also a surprise.
“It is such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much about me that they helped me to live out a wish – and I didn’t even ask.”
Genoveva Tamasi, General Manager at the home, said staff all wanted to see the smile on Jim’s face when the surprise was revealed.
She said: “It was wonderful to see how happy Jim was – and the staff loved being a part of this as well.”
