Driver killed in Coombe Abbey crash, police say

A WOMAN has died after her car crashed into a tree near Coombe Abbey.

It happened on Brinklow Road shortly before 8.15am on Sunday when a silver Chevrolet Lacetti left the road and collided with a tree.

The victim – who was the only occupant of the car – was declared dead at the scene. She has not yet been named.

The road was closed to traffic until 11.30am for collision examiners to attend the scene and for recovery of the car.

And now police are hoping to trace a couple who flagged down a passing motorcyclist near the scene in order for the emergency services to be called.

They left the scene without leaving their details and police believe they may have valuable information that could find a cause to the crash.

The couple and any other people with information are asked to contact Warwickshire Police on 101 and speak to PC Pat Kearney.
