Donation days fund life-saving Air Ambulance mission

GENEROUS supporters of the local Air Ambulance charity have funded a life-saving mission by taking part in two drive-in donation days.

The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) held two days – one at its Blue Skies House HQ in Rugby, and the other at the charity’s Daventry Warehouse – where 48 people donated their pre-loved or unwanted goods.

Donations included a games compendium which will be sold on eBay, along with textiles and bric-a-brac to be sold at 56 Air Ambulance charity stores across the country.

The donations are worth £1,825 to the charity, and have kept over 1,720kg away from going into landfill.

WNAA Business Support Manager Liz Kelly said: “We were overwhelmed with the tremendous support shown to us by the local community at our donation drive-in days. We have facilities in both these locations and the display of local spirit was resounding. The amount donated will help to support our lifesaving service.

“With the public’s help, we have managed to divert a significant number of unwanted items from landfill and we will be back again, and this time will be bigger and better, so please follow our social media channels to keep updated.”

The charity is the first in the UK to offer a full closed-loop recycling service, offers free home collections of pre-loved items, and supplies over 1,000 recycling banks nationwide – diverting over 1.6million tonnes a year from landfill.

With no government funding, WNAA relies solely on donations to remain operational and reach people in their hour of need.

The charity is celebrating its 20th anniversary of frontline service across Warwickshire and Northamptonshire this year, and is encouraging the public to continue supporting it to help it save more lives.
