A PREHISTORIC party at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum drew hundreds of visitors.

A walking, roaring Tyrannosaurus Rex greeted nearly 2,000 visitors at the free Dinosaurs at Dusk event – part of the gallery’s Night At Your Museum celebration.

The event also featured an exhibition of Creaturama Dinosaurs by artist Anthony James, who also hosted workshops where children created dinosaurs from recycled materials.

Hear Me Roar! story-telling sessions and tales from the Dinosaur Wrangler kept the crowds entertained, while Professor Gowan Dawson presented his lecture, How the Victorians Made Dinosaurs.

Visitors saw a display of fossils courtesy of Warwickshire Museum, while the younger generation enjoyed dinosaur-themed games and cupcakes.

Jessica Hartshorn, Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s learning and outreach officer, said: “We welcomed nearly 2,000 visitors to Dinosaurs at Dusk, with people of all ages coming along to join in the fun.

“There was so much to see and do at the event, and I’m delighted so many people enjoyed a night at their museum.”
