FREE money is being handed out to mark the 10th anniversary of Rugby Credit Union.
The giveaway is part of the celebration of the organisation that has approved low-cost loans of nearly £750,000 since forming in 2004 with funds available to take its lending this year to £1m.
On Friday, June 20 there will be a stand in the Clock Towers and the first 50 people who open an account will have £5 added to their balance.
And on Monday, June 23 new Mayor Ramesh Srivastava will cut a cake at the Credit Union’s headquarters on Little Church Street.
A year ago the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby – a former vicar in Souham – called on people to put their money into credit unions after pledging to put then under fire pay-day loan firms out of business.
