Community groups can bid for council cash

Rugby Editorial 27th Feb, 2015 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016   0

COMMUNITY and voluntary organisations can now apply for a grant from Rugby Borough Council.

The council has a total funding pot of nearly £80,000 available for 2015/2016, with grants on offer to community, voluntary or charitable organisations based in the borough.

Organisations can apply for:

– A voluntary and community grant of up to £1,500

– A sports grant of up to £1,000

– A youth and play grant of up to £1,000

– An arts grant of up to £1,000

– A rural development grant of up to £10,000

– A health and wellbeing grant of up to £1,000.

The council has increased the funding pot for voluntary and community grants again this year. In 2014/2015 a one-off contribution increased the amount of funding available from £8,000 to £20,000.

And this year the council has increased the funding further, making another one-off contribution to boost the total to £26,000.

Coun Leigh Hunt, Rugby Borough Council communities spokeswoman, said: “Community and voluntary organisations make a vital contribution to the lives of many of our residents, and these grants aim to support this valuable work.

“We’re proud of the support we offer to community organisations, and understand securing funding has become increasingly hard.

“I would encourage any community organisation which meets our funding criteria to apply for a grant before the deadline.”

Applications for community grants must be made before 12 noon on Monday April 13.
