Community funding up for grabs

FUNDING for community projects is up for grabs.

Groups can apply for the Aviva Community Fund from September 12.

The fund, established in 2015, has already helped over 800 community projects across the country, including a number of projects in Rugby.

Previous winners in the town include Coton Park Resident’s Association who were able to fund a community day, and Paddox Primary School which used the money for their Outdoor Learning Yurts.

This year’s round of funding will finance over 500 UK projects across four categories and four different funding levels, with awards ranging up to £25,000.

Rugby MP Mark Pawsey said there were many groups in Rugby which would benefit.

He said: “I’ve had the opportunity to see first-hand the enormous benefit that support from the Aviva Community Fund can bring. It is a great chance to not only get some much needed funding but also to really raise the profile of a community project or event.

“One of the great features of the process is that the applications are open to a public vote, meaning the right project can really capture the public’s imagination.

“The projects with the most votes or which particularly impress the judges will then be eligible for one of the grants, which can help to transform a community project.”

Applications will be accepted up until midday on October 10. Visit www.aviva.co.uk/good-thinking/community-fund to apply or for more information.
