THE Bradby Club hosts jumble sale on Saturday.

It starts at 10am at the club in East Union Street.

A RECORD donation of £100,000 has been raised for CHIPS, a charity which provides specialised powered wheelchairs for young people with severe mobility problems, in just a year by staff at the Cashino gaming centre.

Staff and customers at the branch on North Street in the town centre contributed to the amount that has resulted in 17 deserving youngsters around the country receiving state-of-the-art wheelchairs.

CHIPS is a charity founded by the casino and gaming industry, and Cashino and sister organisation Beacon Bingo support it each year, raising over £250,000 since 2005.

Marketing manager Phil Gibbs said: “It’s been a great effort by our staff and customers this year and hopefully our continued efforts will help to raise much needed funds for many more wheelchairs in the future.”

ENOUGH handbags to fill the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance helicopter have been collected at its fund-raising shops.

All 28 held a Hand In Your Handbags’ amnesty from April 21 to May 4, collecting a staggering 2,665 which it has been estimated will raise £10,000 – enough to pay for six rescue missions.

Hannah Coventry, senior retail area manager, said: “This will make a significant difference to shop sales over the coming weeks.”
