Bike ride to raise ‘desperately-needed’ funds for beloved youth club

FUND-RAISERS are gearing up to raise ‘desperately-needed’ funds for a beloved century-old youth club which has had to abandon its usual money-spinning events due to the pandemic.

Staff and volunteers from the Bradby Club will take on a 25-mile bike ride – from the club’s East Union Street HQ to three laps of Draycote Water and back – to help it continue its services and activities.

The club has continued to offer support, guidance and activities to young people during the pandemic, either online or in socially-distanced groups.

Club leader John Robertson said: “It is clear that young people continue to need support and engagement throughout this uncertain time.

“Fund-raising events are responsible for a significant amount of income that supports the work we do. We risk now having to use valuable reserve funds which unfortunately decrease year on year.

“Please support our efforts as we try desperately to continue bringing much needed funding to the club.”

The club runs services and activities to support young people into adulthood, including youth club sessions, a substance misuse service, a safer relationships and sexual health service, support for young carers and young parents, a boxing academy and gym facilities.

The bike ride takes place on Sunday October 25.
