Avon Valley School appoints senior student leaders

Rugby Editorial 21st Sep, 2021   0

SENIOR student leaders for the 2021/22 academic year have been appointed at Avon Valley School.

Morgan Jeffs and Megan Gyles have taken up their roles as Head Boy and Head Girl, which they will fulfil until they leave the school next July.

The school also appointed Theo Gladman and Ellie Boswell as Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl, along with two students per house who will act as House Captains.

This year a further senior prefect role has also been introduced and Amalie Zaidi-Wood will fulfil the role of Events Captain. In this role Amelie will help to organise and lead younger students during school events such as Open Evening.

Over 25 students applied for the positions and completed the application process – which involved coming up with initiatives they would like to run within the school, and attending an interview with the Headteacher and their House Achievement Leader.

Headteacher Alison Davies said: “Since being in Year 9 the students who applied for these leadership positions have had their education interrupted due to the pandemic. However, all of them have shown great levels of commitment, perseverance and resilience and will make wonderful role models for their peers.

“Since joining the school both Morgan and Megan have been thoroughly involved in many aspects of school life, whether it be pursuing interests in music or the performing arts, sports or charity work. I know they will be great ambassadors for the school over the next 12 months and I wish them all the best in their new roles.”
