RUGBY Town have ensured key midfielder Alex Lock will continue to play a part in their title-chasing efforts after securing his services on a contract.
Lock, who joined Valley from Coventry Copsewood in September 2021, has become the latest piece of the jigsaw to slot in for the long-term, having signed a contract until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old, who has also played for Nuneaton Borough, Hinckley and Nuneaton Griff, becomes the 17th player to sign a contract at Butlin Road, while boss Carl Adams has also penned a deal until at least May 2024 last month.
Lock played his part in helping Rugby secure a 2-1 win at Eynesbury Rovers last weekend to remain four points clear of Coventry Sphinx at the top of the United Counties League Premier Division South.
Valley needed to withstand a forceful start from the hosts at the Alfred Hall Memorial Ground and had to defend well to keep the game scoreless at half-time.
But the breakthrough came for Adams’ men two minutes into the second period when David Kolodynski’s deflected shot flew into the corner of the net.
Ryan Seal doubled the lead on 68 minutes after Jordan Wilson had been fouled.
But Eynesbury were not finished and they replied five minutes later when Tom Rowley slotted home from close-range as Rugby appealed for offside.
