IN-FORM Rugby Welsh secured their third successive league win after beating a resolute Birmingham Exiles 26-3 on Saturday.
The weather conditions at Alwyn Road were not ideal with heavy rainfall falling throughout the contest which led to mistakes being made from both sides.
Welsh control of the match from the outset with the basis of their victory being through their pack who dominated the set pieces.
Guy Shaw kicked three well struck penalties to settle any nerves and Adam Bond increased the Welsh lead with a typical run which saw him burst through to score a well taken try.
Shaw converted the effort which gave Welsh a solid 16-point half-time lead.
The second half saw Exiles have some early pressure but the Welsh defence was solid throughout with Reynolds performing well and Buckland marshalling the backs well at fly half.
As the half progressed, Welsh regained their authority, particularly amongst their forwards who worked well as a unit.
And further Welsh pressure was rewarded by a second Adam Bond try converted again by Shaw.
Exiles got on the scoreboard with a late penalty but Welsh sealed their victory when a catch and drive from a lineout saw the forwards force their opposition backwards and Matty Richards scored the third try of the afternoon.
A third win on the bounce moves Welsh up to third in the Midlands 5 West (South) league and they are next in action when they travel to Copeswood on November 7.
