BIRMINGHAM Bears fell eight runs short of completing a successful run chase against Durham following victory against Leicestershire Foxes in the T20 Blast.

The Bears lost by eight runs against Durham in pursuit of 183 at the Riverside Ground after the hosts posted 182-7.

Former Bear Will Rhodes (51) hit a half-century while opener Graham Clark (43) scored at a rate of just under two-a-ball.

Hasan Ali (3-32) impressed with the ball although Kasey Aldridge (31) added late runs to boost Durham’s total.

Bears opener Alex Davies (1) fell cheaply in the second over before Ed Barnard (49) and Ali (22) moved the visitors in contention.

However, the Bears could not score runs at a quick enough rate despite Jake Lintott (15 not out) hitting three boundaries in the final over.

That came after the Bears claimed a comfortable six-wicket win against Leicestershire at Grace Road.

The Bears bowled the hosts out for 154 despite a 24-ball half-century from Foxes opener Sol Budinger (51) as Ali (4-22) starred with the ball again.

In reply, Dan Mousley (64 not out) and Sam Hain (55 not out) both registered half-centuries as the Bears eased to victory with 10 balls and six wickets to spare.

Birmingham are next in action against Lancashire Lightning on Wednesday, July 9 with the game to begin at 7pm at Edgbaston.
