CREATIVE residents at a Rugby care home have put their handiwork on display at an exhibition to commemorate VE Day.

Staff at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum invited the residents of Overslade House to create arts and crafts for the exhibition, which will be on display to the public in the venue’s main foyer until Sunday May 25.

Inspired by a bustling street party, the exhibit features crafted ‘sponge’ cakes, vibrant bunting, Union Jack mosaics and charming decoupage tea sets to commemorate VE Day.

Overslade House residents enjoyed crafting a Union Jack collage, making cakes out of sponges, and decorating doilies to make bunting.

Resident John said: “I am really looking forward to seeing our creations at the exhibition to celebrate a momentous occasion, VE Day. We have had great fun.”

The home’s Senior General Manager Violetta Baesu said: “It is so lovely that our residents can engage with the local community and contribute to such a special occasion and have so much fun being creative and imaginative.

“We look forward to taking residents on a trip to the Art Gallery and Museum to view their creations at the exhibition.”
