IAN King admits improved performances must translate into results as Rugby Town look to salvage their Step Four status.
Valley sit six points from safety in the Northern Premier League Midlands relegation zone following a 1-0 defeat against Coleshill Town last time out.
King has won one, drawn one and lost five of his seven games at the helm since replacing Carl Adams as Valley boss in December.
Rugby have won just two of their last 26 matches in all competitions and King hopes to make some new additions to the squad to aid Valley’s survival hopes.
King said: “The pattern’s clear in the seven games we’ve had so far, and whilst we’ve been competitive throughout and results could have gone either way, we’ve just lacked that extra bit of quality at both ends at times.
“I’m working hard to try and make additions that could give us the little bit extra we need, but it’s a very difficult time of the season to bring in the right type of player.
“However, to their credit, the spirit amongst the current squad is still very strong and positive.
“They continue to work hard in training and are taking on board what we are asking of them.
“It’s clear there’s been a massive improvement in the way we’ve played, but we know that we have to translate that into results as soon as possible.”
Town have top scorer Trey Charles available again this weekend after he missed the defeat against Coleshill through suspension.
Rugby are next in action against Wellingborough Town on Saturday, February 1 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
