A ‘WONDERFUL’ donation raised by the cast and crew of a Christmas play is helping a Rugby charity to bring homeless people in from the cold.
The £700 donation raised during the recent production of A Christmas Carol at Rugby Theatre will go towards Hope4’s ongoing work to support local homeless people and relieve food poverty via Rugby Foodbank.
The production – a collaboration between Rugby Theatre and non-profit youth group In The Round Theatre – played to 10 sold-out audiences in December.
As rehearsals progressed, the cast and crew were so moved by the classic Dickens tale’s underlying message of generosity that they clubbed together to raise funds for the charity.
Adi Robinson, the manager of Hope4’s Hope Centre in Newbold Road, said: “We’re thrilled with this wonderful donation, which will be a great help with our vital work, especially at this cold time of year.”
Hope4 aims to ‘change the face of homelessness and food poverty in Rugby, one person at a time’. Visit www.hope4.org.uk for more information.
