Rugby care home staff come out on top in national awards

DEDICATED staff at a Rugby care home have beaten hundreds of nominees from across the country to win national awards.

Mandy Smith Barchester Care with Chief Executive Dr. Pete Calveley and Mike O’Reilly, General Counsel and Director of Quality, Risk and Compliance.

Mandy Smith and Merline Geevamoney, who work at Overslade House Care Home, have been crowned as the winners of the National Lifetime Achievement Award and Registered Nurse of the Year Award in the Barchester Care Awards 2024.

Mandy and Merline’s wins were announced at a special national award ceremony to celebrate the staff from Barchester’s 262 UK care homes and private hospitals who go the extra mile.

In a joint statement, Mandy and Merline said: “We could not believe it when our names were called. Thank you to everybody who nominated us for these awards.”




Overslade House General Manager Violeta Baesu said: “This is an amazing achievement. To win one award for our home is amazing but to win two is testament to the staff and their loyalty and dedication.

“Mandy and Merline deserved to be nominated for always going over and above in helping to care for our residents daily and we are all so proud of them.”
