A GRATEFUL Rugby charity has thanked the new owners of a hotel in the town for a donation of furniture and household items which will help struggling families to settle in to new homes.
The Distinct Group, the new owners of Brownsover Hall Hotel, donated the surplus items to the Rugby Bareboards Trust.
They include full dinner services, electric kettles and irons, ironing boards, coffee tables, chairs, wardrobes, mirrors, bedside cabinets, quilts and pillows.
Some of the items will be provided to families who approach Bareboards for help, while others will be sold at the Bareboards shop in Warren Road to fund the charity’s running costs.
A spokesperson for Rugby Bareboards Trust said: “The reuse of the items, rather than their disposal to landfill, is a very worthwhile environmental measure.
“The donated items have already been used to support two families of five. The families have been deemed eligible for unfurnished accommodation and they approached Bareboards for essential household items.”
Families needing assistance can be referred to Bareboards for help by the local authorities, children’s services and other organisations such as Hope4 that provide accommodation for the homeless.
