RUGBY Town suffered a 3-0 defeat at Corby Town in midweek as both teams finished the game with 10-men.

A brace from Jordan O’Brien put Corby in command before Fletcher Toll completed the scoring at Steel Park.

The home side had Rory McAuley sent off on 73 minutes for a late challenge while Rugby’s Edwin Ahenkorah saw red at the death.

Corby took the lead on 23 minutes when O’Brien tapped into the net from close range after Josh Thomas lost possession inside his own penalty area.

And the home doubled their advantage one minute after the break as O’Brien grabbed his second goal of the game from Callum Rai’s attempted clearance.

Toll added Corby’s third goal on 64 minutes with a fine touch and finish after Thomas failed to clear his lines.

A late challenge from McAuley on substitute MJ Semahimbo saw Corby reduced to 10-men for the final 17 minutes.

However, Rugby also finished the game a man short after substitute Ahenkorah raised his hands to Spencer Edwards in front of the referee in the final minute.

Rugby are next in action against Stone Old Alleynians on Saturday, August 17 in the FA Cup Preliminary Round with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
