Children's author to teach kids the art of writing stories

A POPULAR children’s author and comedian will host a creative writing workshop in Rugby next week.

Ben Davis will discuss how he became an author, talk about his much-beloved books and characters, and coach children on how to create stories of their own.

Ben – who has dabbled in stand-up comedy – is known for his books The Soup Movement, What’s That in Dog Years, My Brilliant Plan to Fix Everything, and Lenny Lemon.

He said: “One of my favourite things about being an author is passing on what I’ve learned about creative writing and inspiring others to do their own. I’m really looking forward to it.”

The workshop is part of Rugby First and Hunt’s Bookshop’s Rugby Summer Activities and Events Programme.

Rugby First Business Director Linda Lowne said: “It’s fantastic to have an author of Ben’s stature involved with the programme.

“The workshop looks as though it is going to be a lot of fun and I am sure the children attending will not only enjoy it but get a huge amount of inspiration and tips from it.”

The workshop takes place at the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum on Friday August 9 from 10am to 12.30pm. It is suitable for children aged seven and upwards. All supplies will be provided.
