Creative craftspeople demonstrate talents on Heritage Open Day

CREATIVE craftspeople have been demonstrating their talents at a quirky art hub, as part of this year’s Heritage Open Day celebrations.

Over a dozen skilled makers held talks and demonstrations at Alexandra Art, a Victorian ex-pub in Rugby town centre, showing how traditional tools and techniques are still used today to make items for use and enjoyment.

Skills on show included printmaking, spinning, pottery, lacemaking and embroidery.

Many historic settings and venues across the borough opened their doors to the public for free exhibitions and tours during the Heritage Open Day week, including the Mayor’s Parlour and Council Chamber, Coombe Abbey Park, Cotesbach Hall, Percival Guildhouse, Rugby Theatre, Princethorpe College, Marton Museum of Country Bygones, Rugby Distillery, and a number of churches.

Heritage Open Days will return next September.
