AN ‘HONOURED’ director at a local building society has been recognised as one of the mortgage industry’s Elite Women of 2023.
Carolyn Thornley-Yates, Director of Mortgage Proposition and Distribution at Hinckley and Rugby Building Society, has been named as one of the best women mortgage leaders in the UK by the publication Mortgage Introducer.
She is one of the publication’s 55 Elite Women of 2023, which recognises exceptional female leaders who are revolutionising the mortgage sector, challenging stereotypes, promoting diversity and inclusion, and inspiring other women to excel.
Carolyn said: “I am incredibly honoured to be recognised as an exceptional female leader in the mortgage industry.
“This recognition is not just a celebration of my accomplishments, but a testament to the collective efforts of all those who have championed diversity, inclusion, and innovation within our sector.
“It is my belief that a truly inclusive industry is one where everyone can thrive, regardless of their gender, background, or circumstances. I hope our work has inspired others to excel and embrace their unique talents.”

Mortgage Introducer invited industry professionals from across the UK to nominate exceptional female role models for the second annual Elite Women list. Nominees had to be working in a role that related to, interacted with, or in some way impacted the industry and should have demonstrated a clear passion for their work.
Those nominating were asked to describe the nominee’s standout professional achievements over the past 12 months, initiatives, and innovations they have been involved with, and their contributions to the mortgage industry. Following a meticulous review of all nominations received, the Mortgage Introducer team carefully narrowed down that list to the final 55 Elite Women.
